Guides

Getting started

  1. Create an account and log in.
  2. On Your bots, press Add bot. Give it a name, enter the server address (like play.example.net), and leave the version on Auto-detect unless you know it.
  3. The bot's card shows a code. Open microsoft.com/link, enter it and sign in with the Microsoft account the bot should play as.
  4. A few seconds later the card turns Online. You can close the page; the bot stays on.

Signing in with Microsoft

AFKNest never asks for your password. You sign in on Microsoft's own website with a one-time code, and Microsoft gives the bot a login token. The token is saved so you only do this once per bot.

Signed in with the wrong account? Delete the bot and add it again. To remove AFKNest's access completely, delete the bot, or sign out of other devices in your Microsoft account settings.

The code expires after about 15 minutes. If it does, the bot retries and shows a new one.

Servers and versions

Bots work on Java Edition servers from 1.8 to the latest supported version, including networks behind Velocity or BungeeCord. Bedrock isn't supported.

Auto-detect asks the server which version it runs. Some big networks report a version that's too new; if your bot can't connect, open it, go to Settings and pick a version yourself (usually the newest one in the list).

Some servers ban AFK bots and are blocked on AFKNest. Please check a server's rules before adding a bot; you're responsible for following them.

Anti-AFK: jump, hit, spin

  • Jump keeps jumping.
  • Hit attacks whatever is right in front of the bot about once a second, or swings at the air. Careful near other players.
  • Spin turns one full circle every 2 seconds.

Switches are saved per bot and keep working after reconnects, respawns and server switches.

Why was my bot kicked?

  • "Logging in too fast" / "Connection throttled": the server limits logins. The bot waits and retries automatically.
  • "You have been idle": turn on Jump or Spin.
  • "disconnect.spam": too many messages too quickly. Leave a second or two between messages.
  • Banned or blacklisted: the bot stops and won't reconnect by itself. Contact the server's staff; press Connect only if the ban is lifted.
  • Server restart: nothing to do; it reconnects with increasing waits (5s, 15s, 30s, then every minute).

Open the bot and check the Activity tab to see every kick and its reason.

Chat and commands

Open a bot to read live chat and send messages. Anything starting with / runs as a command, for example /spawn or /bal.

To protect accounts, money-transfer commands like /pay are blocked on every bot.

Teams: sharing a bot

Open a bot, go to Team and add a friend by their AFKNest email. They can see the bot, read chat, send messages and use the switches. Only you can change its settings, share it or delete it. A bot can have up to 5 team members, and shared bots don't use their plan's slots.

Referrals and codes

Your Account page has a referral link. When a friend signs up with it, you both get a free upgrade for a few days. Got a promo code? Enter it on the Account page under Redeem a code.

Account safety

  • Use a strong AFKNest password that you don't use anywhere else.
  • Never share your Microsoft password with anyone. AFKNest staff will never ask for it.
  • Deleting a bot deletes its saved Microsoft login token from our servers.
